Semiquantum chaos.

چکیده
We consider a system in which a classical oscillator is interacting with a purely quantum mechanical oscillator, described by the Lagrangian L = 12 ẋ 2 + 12 Ȧ 2 − 1 2(m 2 + e2A2)x2 , where A is a classical variable and x is a quantum operator. With 〈x(t)〉 = 0, the relevant variable for the quantum oscillator is 〈x(t)x(t)〉 = G(t). The classical Hamiltonian dynamics governing the variables A(t), ΠA(t), G(t) and ΠG(t) is chaotic so that the results of making measurements on the quantum system at later times are sensitive to initial conditions. This system arises as the zero momentum part of the problem of pair production of charged scalar particles by a strong external electric field.

Semiquantum chaos in the double well.
The new phenomenon of semiquantum chaos is analyzed in a classically regular double-well oscillator model. Here it arises from a doubling of the number of effectively classical degrees of freedom, which are nonlinearly coupled in a Gaussian variational approximation (TDHF) to full quantum mechanics. The resulting first-order nondissipative autonomous flow system shows energy dependent transitio...
متن کاملSemiquantum molecular dynamics simulation of liquid water by time-dependent Hartree approach.
Semiquantum liquid water molecular dynamics simulation was developed using the time-dependent Hartree approach. The classical intra- and intermolecular potential functions of water were extended to describe the wave packet (WP) hydrogen atoms. The equations of motion with an extended phase space including auxiliary coordinates and momenta representing the hydrogen WP widths were derived and sol...
متن کاملVibrating Quantum Billiards on Riemannian Manifolds
Quantum billiards provide an excellent forum for the analysis of quantum chaos. Toward this end, we consider quantum billiards with time-varying surfaces, which provide an important example of quantum chaos that does not require the semiclassical (~ −→ 0) or high quantum-number limits. We analyze vibrating quantum billiards using the framework of Riemannian geometry. First, we derive a theorem ...
متن کاملSemiquantum Chaos and the Large N Expansion
We consider the dynamical system consisting of a quantum degree of freedom A interacting with N quantum oscillators described by the Lagrangian L = 1 2 Ȧ + N ∑ i=1 { 1 2 ẋi − 1 2 (m + eA)xi } . (1) In the limit N → ∞, with eN fixed, the quantum fluctuations in A are of order 1/N . In this limit, the x oscillators behave as harmonic oscillators with a time dependent mass determined by the soluti...
متن کاملSemiquantum key distribution without invoking the classical party's measurement capability
In the existing semiquantum key distribution (SQKD) protocols, the both parties must measure qubits in some bases. In this paper, we show that the classical party’s measurement capability is not necessary by constructing an SQKD protocol without invoking the classical Alice’s measurement capability. In particular, we prove the proposed SQKD protocol is completely robust against joint attacks. C...
